What the solution was

A customer experience that linked patient, primary care provider (PCP) and industry body together.

By using symptoms from particular areas of the body we were able to create a pathway through a user interface to direct patients to a preferred primary care provider that was endorsed by a leading industry body.

What problem did it solve?

The problem is that googling symptoms to diagnose oneself is a common force of habit nowadays. It provides inaccurate diagnosis results motivated by fear and escalates anxiety for patients, and, fuels an unhealthy obsession called ‘cyberchondria.’

What problem did it solve?

The problem was that many people feared being seen as incompetent and desired to feel smarter, more alert and more mentally agile, so they can achieve a higher level of mental performance at work.

What was interesting about the problem

What was interesting about this problem situation was that if it was approached as if it is a problem of utilising self-diagnosis behaviour to your advantage, then the solution became an exercise in treating anxiety by giving patients just enough information to satisfy their cyberchondria and funnel them straight to a healthcare professional.

What was interesting about this problem situation was that if it was approached as if it is a problem of providing cognitive enhancement and aiding self-improvement, then the solution became an exercise in bio-hacking.

What did I change?

  • The core use of the client's website. Transformed it to become a platform for funneling patients to client customer-members rather than just a website destination.
  • The patient funnel > B2C-B2B > our client became the lynchpin.
  • Our clients value to their member-customers in terms of justifying fees.
